The origins of a new network:
On Wednesday 9th of October, Bristol City of Sanctuary hosted a half-day meeting and workshop session at the Bristol Beacon with a diverse group of organisations, all with a shared interest in contributing to Bristol’s ambition to be a city of welcome, safety and hope for people seeking sanctuary.
Through a series of talks and workshops we built new connections and generated a long list of ideas for action. This included improving our recruitment and employment policies and practices and creating opportunities for people seeking sanctuary to build professional connections, share their professional experience, gain new skills and feel that their skills and knowledge are valued by local employers.
Our vision:
Businesses across Bristol contribute to making Bristol
a city of welcome, safety and hope.
What’s happening next?
- Bristol City of Sanctuary is mapping out what businesses in Bristol are already doing to support people seeking sanctuary and what further support we can provide to support businesses in contributing to this vision
- Members of the group are identifying what practical steps and commitments they could make towards this vision.
- The group will be meeting again in January 2025
How to get involved?
- Is your Business interested in contributing to this shared vision?
- Do you have skills and knowledge that could support Bristol businesses in starting this journey?
- Could you offer training, advice, support or partnership?
