Cotham School was awarded as a School of Sanctuary in June 2024. Since then they have continued to welcome and support all pupils, including those seeking sanctuary.

They support other secondary schools by sharing their expertise and resources especially when teaching pupils with English as an additional language.

We are always impressed by the care and commitment of staff to go out of their way to offer the best opportunities to their pupils and by their appreciation and acknowledgement of what refugee and asylum seeking pupils bring to the school.

“Our refugee students, including children from Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, and other conflict zones, bring remarkable resilience, determination, and cultural richness to our school. These young people have often overcome extraordinary challenges to continue their education, and we are honoured to support them in rebuilding their lives and pursuing their dreams.”
