The Bristol group was sucessfully launched on Thursday 23rd October with a public meeting attended by people from across Bristol and farther afield including the deputy Chief Executive of the City Council, representatives of refugee organisations and faith communities. We were inspired by Craig Barnett as we enthused about saying we are a City of Sanctuary in 2010 and as we discussed what’s happening already in Bristol and South Gloucestestshire and talked about where the gaps were in becoming truly a welcoming and hospitable city. Those from farther afield thought about a setting up their own group e.g in Gloucester and about twinning and linking with Bristol e.g. those from Frome in Somerset. Our hosts were the Pierian Centre who provided an ambiant setting and scrumptious refreshments
