Bristol University’s Sanctuary Scholarship Scheme has opened for the 2020 intake, offering scholarships to people from refugee or asylum-seeking backgrounds. The scheme recognises the additional barriers that people seeking sanctuary may face when considering higher education, providing support to ease these barriers.

The university was recently awarded University of Sanctuary status, recognising its work to be a welcoming institution for those seeking sanctuary. The university was awarded, in part, because of the Sanctuary Scholarship Scheme which has awarded scholarships to 34 students since its inception in 2016.

The scheme is open for various levels of study, and is only for those who have an academic offer or who are awaiting a decision on an application from the University of Bristol.

For more information on eligibility, levels of funding and how to apply, please visit Bristol University’s information page. The deadline to apply is 12pm (midday), Monday 30th March 2020.
