During the lockdown in Bristol, we made the decision to suspend our Sanctuary Transport Fund, which provides bus tickets for destitute people seeking sanctuary. Now that lockdown is easing, and with people more able to travel around the city for appointments and services, it is once again necessary for us to relaunch the fund, which provides a lifeline for its beneficiaries in the city.
Our Sanctuary Transport Fund is a community initiative to provide bus tickets for destitute asylum seekers and refugees who, for various reasons, are more vulnerable. Bristol is a big city, and many of the services for people seeking sanctuary are in the city centre, as are many medical appointments. This fund ensures that people are able to access these vital services, helping to fight against isolation and support people in making Bristol their home.
