Bristol has become well known as a City of Sanctuary.
Can you hold the vision of the city as a proud place of welcome and safety for people seeking sanctuary in the face of political hostility towards refugees and migrants?
Do you have the energy, the vision, the experience to develop the strategic direction of the organisation and take it to the next stage?
Are you familiar with the public, private and voluntary sector and able to engage a wide range of groups and individuals in this vision?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic and visionary thinker to build on the strong foundations of Bristol City of Sanctuary – for someone who is determined to make a difference at a city-wide level.
Bristol City of Sanctuary (BCoS) has established a respected reputation in Bristol for bringing communities together to create places of safety and welcome for refugees and asylum seekers. As a registered CIO, BCoS is seeking to appoint a Manager to coordinate and develop its work.
The main duty of the post is to maintain oversight of BCoS activity towards building a culture of welcome and safety for all, including people who are seeking sanctuary.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of issues faced by forced migrants, be a strategic and visionary thinker, and have excellent networking, communication and negotiating skills.
The post will be based near central Bristol, but will entail a considerable amount of outreach work.
People with experience of seeking sanctuary are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are welcomed from all sectors of the community currently under-represented in our team of trustees, staff and volunteers.
