Lorraine Ayensu

On Friday the 17th of June, Lorraine Ayensu died in her sleep after two years with a brain tumour. June Burrough, former chair of Bristol City of Sanctuary, gave an incredible dedication to her at our event Tea and Cake with the Lord Mayor and encouraged the crowd to produce an amazing, multicultural cheer in her memory. In the words of June โ€œwithout her vision for Bristol, we would quite simply not be a City of Sanctuary. After hearing about the movement at a conference in Brussels she returned to Bristol with an energy that enthused the Refugee Week Committee to initiate itโ€ฆ Lorraine was a person with vision, determination, compassion and love, who made a real difference in this worldโ€ and who will be very much missed by all those who knew her.
