On the 14th of June 2015 hundreds gathered to celebrate the amazing contribution refugees and asylum seekers make to Bristol. Nestled in the heart of the city of sanctuary, Queen’s Square provided the perfect venue for people to spend a relaxing Sunday listening to music and enjoying the tastes of different world foods. The fantastic music from various artists provided an eclectic soundtrack to a beautiful day, and it was not long before many were up on their feet, unable to resist dancing along.

There was also a cuddly element this year, with sanctuary seekers offering hugs to attendees. Aiming to create a positive narrative, the hug campaign encouraged people to demonstrate solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers. The campaign is ongoing, and you are invited to send a hug by following this link.

This annual event provides a great day out in the centre of Bristol, and we cannot wait to see what next year will bring.
