Our Response to the Nationality and Borders Bill

In 2021 we organised a series of ‘Teach Outs’ to continue the conversations about some of the issues that impact those seeking sanctuary and wider communities wanting to welcome people to our city. This Teach Out focuses on the Nationality and Borders Bill, specifically the proposals that will impact the asylum system in the UK.

On Monday 21st March 2022, we held a flotilla and speeches at College Green as part of a nationwide campaign with Together With Refugees, to demonstrate Bristol’s welcome to those seeking sanctuary and to present an alternative vision to the Nationality and Borders Bill, under which people escaping the same horrors would be treated differently depending on how they get here

BRASP (Bristol Refugee and Asylum Seeker Partnership) is a partnership between sixteen local organisations supporting people seeking sanctuary in the city. A key campaign for this partnership has been our response to the Nationality and Borders Bill. Below is a series of blogs from members of BRASP, which will explore different aspects of the bill.
